Ottawa Animation Festival

I'll start by saying Nick Cross delivered 'Yellow Cake' and it kicked ass. Period.
I met up with alot of old mates and met a few new ones at the festival. Lotsa beers.....some cartoons...can't complain.
At one point I was talking amongst a group of friends and collegues and realized I was surrounded by 'film makers'...not just animation service peeps, but full fledged 'film makers'.
Mike Geiger, Jessica Borutski, Kyle Marshall along with the aforementioned Nick Cross....all of whom have made their own films from scratch.....and some really great stuff I might add.
It was at that point that I realized how lucky I've been to work with such amazing talent over the years and meet new people with such passion for animation. Humbling and inspiring.

you live where????

I get asked this question quite often when working with a new studio...you live where????
I live in a small waterfront town called Port Dover. Not exactly an animation hub to say the least.
Whenever I am doing a freelance boarding gig I move the family back to the area I grew up. I have yo-yo'd from this area to Vancouver, and back, to Toronto and back, to Ottawa and back, to Vancouver and back, to Ottawa and back.
With the advancements in technology and digital pipeline's, I am able to work more from my office space and commute less as time moves forward.
I do miss the camaraderie and collaborative nature of a studio atmosphere, so I'm sure it won't be too long before I relocate again......
The image above is a picture of my stomping grounds.
